We can see the symbiosis in nature everywhere we look.  Even the shoreline where water meets land is a mystery that reveals truth of our relationship with God. As beings made of the earth we are touched by the living water but we not its source.  Because of water, real and spiritual, we live and move and have our being. When Jesus said he was living water he spoke of this relationship that we have with God. We are of it but we are not it.  We can’t live without it and we are always lovingly dependent of the merciful gift of it presence.

We can even see God’s relationship with us by observing the way a farmer works with the earth or a fisherman works with the sea.

Nothing prepares us for truth, when we are not expecting it, better than love.  The love that surpasses understanding, whether in joy or sorrow, allows us to witness events and become part of a bigger picture where we can observe rather than react.  This is one way in which we can understand that we need God and that He also needs us.   

“Symbiosis” is dedicated to the men and women who love nature and know that it is only from God but that it is not God.
