Oh, Why Not...

Having explored both sides of the fence rigorously I can't find the beef.
Science has done more to dispel superstition than religion.

Superstition is not just about black cats, the number 13, and walking under a ladder. The real bane of superstition is about huge beliefs. In the big picture, most of us would not consider cars, planes, and spaceships ungodly. Some of us remember grandparents and great grand parents who were vehemently opposed to scientific advancements. We all accept that the earth rotates around the sun, but there is still a remnant of disbelief within a small segment of my Christian community that "knows" that the earth is the center of the universe. I have the book in my library! The earth is no longer flat but Galileo was punished for insisting otherwise.

I am merely suggesting that Darwin is not a pawn for the devil. To stand on the opposite side of scientific discovery and thought is to unwittingly share the dance floor with astrologers, psychics, amulets, fetishes, and superstitions.

God is the first scientist. The paltry information given us by the worlds greatest minds about the origin and fabric of the universe is but the wrapping paper upon the truth. This amazing universe in which we live still baffles the most creative minds with the best scientific tinker toys money can buy.

Any real religion should welcome the scrutiny of science. If Jesus is real, bring the lab coats! If God is real, bring on the astronomers, nuclear physicists, mathematicians, chemists, and biologists.

The last thing we need as God-loving individuals, is to find our scientists being treated like Vietnam veterans. Science is responsible for getting rid of the shaman priests by the discoveries is medicine and chemistry. Science elevated astrology into astronomy and alchemy into chemistry. Science is capable of transforming lingering superstitious beliefs, that still hold people in spiritual bondage, into ridiculous scare-crows that should be laughed at.

Correct me if I am wrong. Evolution at its core simply means change. What is so disgusting about thinking that our first ancestors were not human? Why is it so demeaning to God the Father to consider that Adam and Eve weren't the first organisms of humanity? My faith in God is resolute regardless of who and what was the first life form that became my ancestors. Really, does serving your fellow man and loving God in the present moment have anything to do with arguing over the past? If we live the way we were instructed by Jesus, let the earth fall away and let our fondest dreams be shattered. Why worry about issues that are not on the bulls-eye?

We have seen in less than a generation that God's life forms can mutate, adapt, modify, and evolve.
Why is it that everything but humans can evolve?
We should, with open arms, welcome science. If our beliefs are true then science will eventually prove them.

What we cannot do is improve our standing by thumbing our nose at science while we share company with astrologers and psychics who consider Christians buffoons.
